BMI Presents ‘An Evening with Eric Church’ in DC

On March 26, 2025, BMI Presented “An Evening with Eric Church” in Washington, DC, where the Country music superstar talked about the art of songwriting and shared the stories behind some of his favorite hit songs, such as “Hippie Radio,” “Mr. Misunderstood,” “Carolina,” “Hell of a View,” and “Springsteen,” which have captivated millions of fans around the world.
To kick off the evening, BMI CEO Mike O’Neill welcomed attendees, which included members of Congress, Congressional staffers, members of the DC music community and representatives of various association partners. O’Neill highlighted BMI’s role in ensuring songwriters are compensated for their work and the current issues that affect music creators, including the ongoing policy discussions around generative AI and the need for guardrails on emerging technologies to protect creators.
Throughout the intimate event, Church treated the audience to pieces of some of his biggest songs, and closed out the evening with a special preview of “Johnny,” a brand-new song from his forthcoming album Evangeline vs. The Machine, available on May 2, 2025.
Over his illustrious career, Church has released nine albums and amassed over 36 gold and multi-platinum singles. He’s won seven ACM Awards, four CMA Awards and is a 10x GRAMMY nominee. In addition, as a BMI songwriter since 1995, he’s received 18 BMI Awards for his stellar songwriting and extraordinary performances across platforms.
