On Monday, BMI and White Bear PR presented “How I Wrote That…Behind The Score” during the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, held at the Music Lodge in Park City, Utah. The panel brought together talented composers to discuss the scores behind their films premiering at the festival. Moderated by White Bear PR’s Chandler Poling with an introduction by BMI’s Tracy McKnight, the panel explored the art of scoring indie films, the collaborative dynamic between directors and composers, and the creative process behind crafting memorable scores.
Panelists included T. Griffin (Middletown Folktales), Nathan Alexander (Last Days), Emily Wells (Plain Clothes), and Mato Wayuhi (Free Leonard Peltier). Throughout the discussion, each composer shared insights into their musical approach, influences, and composing for indie films.
