BMI is proud to present “Music & Film: The Creative Process” at this year’s Sundance Film Festival on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. at The Box at The Ray. The panel will explore the vital role of music in storytelling and delve into the creative process of the film Exhibiting Forgiveness, in dramatic competition and making its world premiere at the Festival. The conversation will feature the film’s director Titus Kaphar, GRAMMY award-winning singer/songwriter and actress Andra Day, and composer Jherek Bischoff. “We’re thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with the Sundance Institute and provide a platform for our BMI composers and songwriters to showcase their outstanding work,” said McKnight. “I’m looking forward to discussing the collaborative process on the creation of the film’s soundtrack and getting to speak to this talented ensemble.”
During the panel, Kaphar, Day, and Bischoff will discuss their musical vision for Exhibiting Forgiveness, including the power behind a well-crafted score, how original music can shape the narrative and the magic of bringing this film to life through the marriage of sound and visuals.
