BMI Presents “New Faces of Nashville” 2023 Kickoff Show at the Bluebird Cafe
BMI kicked off its 2023 Bluebird Cafe showcase series Tuesday night, with a “New Faces of Nashville” themed set of performances. The legendary stage hosted Nashville newcomers Tony Evans Jr., Harper Grae, and Lindsey Hinkle.
Lindsey Hinkle started out the evening performing in her Bluebird Cafe debut. The self-taught musician has written her own music since the age of 13 and opened for acts including Keith Urban, Lady A, Sugarland, and Darius Rucker. Her powerful performance included some of her hit songs, “Power of a Woman,” “Bound to Fall,” and “Leave Me Alone,” to name a few.
Harper Grae, the southern vocalist from Montgomery, Alabama, spoke about her childhood struggles, singing songs about her mother’s difficulties with addiction, and being raised by her grandparents. Her emotional set included “Monster,” “Bloodline,” and “Dying on the Vine,” among others from her EP Buck Moon Medleys.
Tony Evans Jr. closed out the evening’s performances with songs about heartbreak and “that knot in the stomach we feel when a relationship ends.” The Georgia native performed three songs during his set, including “We’ve Never Danced,” “Hard to Sleep Alone,” and “Kids We Never Had.”
BMI Presents at the Bluebird Cafe features a diverse group of Nashville-based emerging singer/songwriters each month and is hosted by BMI Executive Director, Creative, Nashville Shannon Sanders, who said, “BMI is proud of our partnership with the Bluebird. We’re mutually committed to the support of our songwriter community.”
