BMI Presents Randy Bachman with Six Million-Air Awards
BMI’s New York office hosted renowned singer/songwriter, guitarist and producer Randy Bachman for a special ceremony to celebrate his incredible achievements as a music creator. As the co-founder of both The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Bachman is a rock and roll legend and a longtime BMI affiliate.
BMI Million-Air Awards are given to songwriters whose works have achieved the rare feat of surpassing one million broadcast performances on U.S. radio. Bachman received Awards for his hit songs “American Woman” (10 million plays), “Laughing” (2 million plays), “Let It Ride” (3 million plays), “No Time” (4 million plays), “These Eyes” (6 million plays) and “Undun” (2 million plays).
Over the course of his illustrious career, Bachman has had over 120 gold and platinum albums and singles. He’s been #1 on radio in over 20 countries and sold over 40 million records, and his massive hits include “American Woman,” “These Eyes,” “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” “Takin’ Care of Business,” “Let it Ride,” and “Rolling Down the Highway,” to name just a few. His songs have been recorded by a wide range of artists and have been placed in dozens of TV shows like The Simpsons and Seinfeld, as well as in major films and commercials. Among his many accolades, he has received the Order of Canada, the highest civilian honor for lifetime achievement. Bachman continues to release new music and tour.
