BMI Singer/Songwriter Carnie Wilson Honored at Girls Rising Game Changer Award
BMI singer/songwriter Carnie Wilson was honored on Friday, June 29, as part of the first annual Girls Rising Game Changer Awards at the Glenwood Landing Firehouse in Glenwood Landing, New York. As a five-time GRAMMY nominee, television personality, CEO and co-founder of Love Bites by Carnie, Wilson was feted for her role in inspiring and raising awareness of female empowerment by Girls Rising, a nonprofit organization formed by the members of Long Island-based band, Antigone Rising. Designed to inform, inspire and encourage nontraditional career paths for girls and LGBT youth, Girls Rising has been in operation for six years. In keeping with this newest honor, Wilson then went on to moderate a panel on female empowerment the following day at the fifth annual BeachFest Music festival, a pioneering event wherein all the performers are female. BMI’s Alison Smith, Executive Vice President, Distribution, Publisher Relations & Administration, was on hand on Saturday to celebrate Wilson’s accolade.
