For the first time, BMI provided the musical entertainment during the Responsible Hospitality Institute’s (RHI) leadership summit, which was held recently (2/12) at The Omni in Austin, Texas. Leading stakeholders in the nightlife industry from across the country were treated to a performance by BMI’s singer-songwriter Rob Baird during the opening reception at Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que. Baird performed songs from his newest album, Wrong Side of The River, while emphasizing the role that BMI plays in ensuring songwriters are compensated when their music is publicly performed, and what that means to him personally.

The RHI has worked with more than 100 cities in the United States and Canada to plan and manage successful nightlife economies. A recurring theme at this year’s summit was showcasing cities that have successfully harnessed a strong nighttime economy - with live music being a major contributor to their success.
