BMI Songwriter Delivers a “Wonderful” Performance at Hotel Association Conference
BMI showcased a legendary songwriter recently at the International Society of Hotel Associations Summer Conference held recently at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. BMI singer/songwriter John Ellison, who grew up in the small coal mining town of Landgraff, WV, entertained an engaged group of hotel association executives from across the country with his profound stories and songs. In addition, BMI took the opportunity to honor Ellison for his iconic hit “Some Kind of Wonderful” which has been played more than 6 million times on commercial radio and recorded by 75 different artists. Grand Funk Railroad had the most success with it in 1974, when they took it to # 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Ellison, who will turn 83 years old in August, still tours with his band and is a motivational speaker. ISHA is a professional association consisting of the chief staff executives and other staff of local, state, national and international lodging trade associations. They have been a long time partner of BMI’s.
