BMI Songwriters Break Records & Shine at 40th Anniversary of VMAs
BMI was very proud to see our affiliates repeatedly take center stage at last night’s Video Music Awards at New York’s UBS Arena on Long Island. Marking the 40th anniversary of MTV’s award show, the 2024 VMAs proved to be one for the history books with records broken by BMI songwriters Taylor Swift and Eminem. Having earned two awards last night for Best Hip-Hop and Best Visual Effects for his video for “Houdini,” Eminem brought his total wins to 15, making him the top male winner in the show’s history. Swift, meanwhile, claimed seven awards, bringing her total Moonperson wins to 30, making her the top winner in the program’s history. Anitta’s third win of Best Latin, meanwhile, ties her with J Balvin as the top winner in that category.
Beyond the awards, it was a stunning night of music, featuring performances by Teddy Swims, Anitta, Benson Boone, Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, Rauw Alejandro, Eminem, Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Karol G, Halsey and more.
Below is the complete list of BMI’s winners. Congratulations to all!
