BMI Songwriters Illuminate the Stage at AIMP’s 40th Anniversary and Holiday Celebration
On Thursday, December 7, the Association of Independent Music Publishers LA chapter held its annual holiday party, which served as a mixer, benefit and 40th anniversary celebration at Candela in Los Angeles. The festive evening was kicked off by a performance from Toronto-based dance duo, Loud Luxury, who performed “Show Me,” “Body” featuring Brando, and “Unfortunate.” Singer/songwriter Anthony Fedorov followed up with an inspiring acoustic set of “World of Magic” featuring Anthea Neri and “Follow You to Heaven” featuring Jennifer Paz with percussionist Felipe Fraga accompanying both songs. Fedorov concluded the set with his rendition of the holiday classic “Oh Holy Night.” The closing performer, Frankie J, who was celebrating his birthday, delighted attendees with an energic performance of “Obsession,” “More Than Words,” and an excerpt from “Suga Suga.” The evening’s highlight included naming the Independent Publisher of the Year, which was awarded to Big Deal Music Group President Kenny MacPherson and presented by GRAMMY award-winning singer/songwriter Dan Wilson. The AIMP also presented the Individual Award to National Music Publishers’ Association President and CEO David Israelite, who accepted his award via video. The evening concluded with a raffle offering premiere tickets to Hamilton with proceeds benefitting the Linda Komorsky Liker scholarship fund.
