At a recent scoring session at Sony’s Barbra Streisand Scoring Stage in LA, BMI’s Doreen Ringer-Ross witnessed the intensely spirited and synergistic collaboration between composer Rolfe Kent and director Alexander Payne as they recorded the score for the much-anticipated science fiction comedy-drama Downsizing. This Paramount film, which is scheduled to hit theatres this Christmas, is about a couple who decide to have themselves shrunk down to escape lives that have gotten out of hand. The kicker is that the man goes through with it and the wife doesn’t. Directed by Alexander Payne, the upcoming movie continues the partnership between Payne and Kent, who have worked together on almost all of Payne’s films since Citizen Ruth.
