The Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) hosted its annual Champagne Reception in association with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Music Branch Governors, along with BMI, ASCAP and SESAC, on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at La Bohéme in West Hollywood, Calif. The gathering celebrated the music nominees for this year’s Academy Awards.

The guests of honor included BMI songwriters and composers who received triumphant wins at the Oscars ceremony the following night: Common and John Legend won Best Original Song for “Glory” from Selma and composer Alexandre Desplat (SACEM) — nominated for Best Original Score for two films, The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Imitation Game — won his first Oscar for The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Other honorees at the Champagne Reception were Best Original Song nominees Glen Campbell (“I’m Not Gonna Miss You” from Glen Campbell … I’ll Be Me) and Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois (“Lost Stars” from Begin Again).
