BMI Celebrates Black History Month with the Trailblazers of Gospel Music and Chair Susan Davenport Austin’s “In Black America” Interview on NPR
African American songwriters and composers have significantly contributed to all of the genres that BMI represents from jazz to pop, rock, hip-hop, classical, R&B, urban, and every other type of music there is. This month BMI is proud to recognize Black History Month in February’s MusicWorld Online by celebrating some of the year-round achievements of BMI’s Trailblazers of Gospel Music Honorees Edwin Hawkins, Lady Tramaine Hawkins, and Kurt Carr, and our Chair, Susan Davenport Austin’s interview on National Public Radio’s “In Black America”.
