BMI Composers Talk Superheros and Video Games at WonderCon 2016 Panels
Renowned BMI composers Brian Tyler (Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel’s Iron Man 3), Tyler Bates (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy), and Kevin Kiner (Star Wars Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) joined equally renowned composer John Debney (Marvel’s Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book) in lending their expertise in a panel discussion sponsored by Disney at WonderCon 2016, entitled “Today’s Greatest Superheroes of Music.” Moderated by film music journalist Jon Burlingame, the panel focused on the process of creating the music that helps bring Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Disney movies and TV series to life.
In addition to the superhero composers, several of the most popular video game composers added their insights about the dynamic and entertaining challenges of creating music for games during the “High Scorers: Star Composers of the Video Game World” panel held during WonderCon. Panelists included BMI composers Mick Gordon (Doom 4, Marvel Super Hero Squad, Killer Instinct 2013, Need for Speed: Shift/World/The Run); Niels Bye Nielsen (Hitman, Ratchet & Clank Series); John Kaefer (Quantum Break) and Bill Brown (Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Captain America: Super Soldier, Lineage II).
As a WonderCon wrap up, BMI executives also hosted the Company’s annual dinner for BMI composers, panelists and their guests to celebrate.
