The BMI Foundation has established the Ralph N. Jackson Fund for New Music in honor of the former Director of the Student Composer Awards and President Emeritus of the BMI Foundation, Ralph Jackson. The surprise announcement was made by BMI’s Executive Director of Classical, Deirdre Chadwick, at the reception for the 2013 Student Composer Awards held on May 20, 2013, at the J.W. Marriott Essex House Hotel in New York City.

Ms. Chadwick proudly spoke about the creation of the fund in the name of her predecessor stating, “This year’s Student Composers Awards ceremony is particularly special with the honoring of Ralph Jackson’s enormous personal and professional contribution to these awards.”

Mr. Jackson retired in June of 2012 as Assistant Vice President for Classical Music at BMI, after more than 30 years of service to the Company and its affiliated composers and publishers.
