The Jerry Bock Awards, which are given for the most promising new musical to be written in the Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, were presented at a luncheon at Broadcast Music Inc.’s New York office on June 10, 2013. With the sad death of Jerry Bock in 2010, the awards were taken over by his longtime collaborator, Sheldon Harnick. This year’s winners, picked by the BMI Workshop Committee, were Jill Abramovitz and Aron Accurso for “The Dogs of Pripyat,” with music by Accurso and lyrics by Abramovitz. The award is funded by the Jerry Bock estate and sponsored by the BMI Foundation.
