The BMI Latin team held a special Noche Bohemia at New York City’s Meridian 23 on Wednesday, December 9, with performances by Orange is the New Black star Jackie Cruz and her band, the Family Portrait, Latin GRAMMY nominee Linda Briceño, Nico Farias, and Juan Samuel Martinez. Singer/songwriter Farias kicked off the show, treating the audience to a special performance of “Que Los Mares No Se Enteren,” the original composition which earned him the peermusic Latin scholarship to Berklee College of Music. Cruz performed her original songs “Grass is Greener” and “Mi Amor Es Natural.” Latin GRAMMY nominee Briceño delivered a stirring set that included her original songs “Me Robas el Aire” and “Sueño Latino,” and featured her spirited trumpet-playing. Closing out the evening was Juan Samuel Martinez with an incredible performance that included as “Cuánto Te Extraño,“ ”Dónde Estarás?” and his current single “Lo Malo.”

The Noche Bohemia event is one of many forums through which BMI continues its support of BMI singer-songwriters influenced by all regions of Latin America.
