BMI was asked to participate in Choice Hotels International 75th Annual Convention held recently (5/15) at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. BMI’s Dan Spears led a seminar entitled “Pulling Back the Curtain on the Music Licensing Process: When Does a Hotel Need a Public Performance License and Where Does the Money Go?” that was attended by owners and general managers of Choice Hotel franchises, including Comfort Inn, Clarion Inn, Cambria Suites and Rodeway Inn. The hour-long session featured a performance by award-winning Nashville songwriter Kendell Marvel, who has penned hit songs for Gary Allan, George Strait, Jake Owen and Blake Shelton.
