BMI Songwriters Win 62% of 2012 Billboard Music Awards

BMI songwriters scored 62% of the Billboard Music Awards handed out on Sunday, May 20 in Las Vegas. BMI’s commanding majority spanned pop, dance, hip-hop, country and contemporary Christian music wins, reflecting the diversity and unparalleled popularity of the BMI repertoire.

With 12 trophies, Adele led the BMI surge, while Wayne followed with four awards. Lady Gaga, Casting Crowns and Jason Aldean each clinched two wins, and Taylor Swift received the Billboard Woman of the Year honor. Wiz Khalifa, Lady Antebellum, Shakira, Rihanna, Pitbull, Foster the People, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Afrojack, Don Omar and others all took home key trophies as well.
