BMI Sponsors 2013 IFP Filmmaker Conference in New York
Broadcast Music, Inc. Vice President, Film/TV Relations Doreen Ringer-Ross recently attended the 2013 Independent Film Project (IFP) Filmmaker Conference, held at the New York Public Library during Independent Film Week. Ringer-Ross was there to support the BMI composers participating in this year’s conference, Peter Nashel and DJ Spooky.
Nashel elaborated on score approaches for music and television during an in-depth panel discussion held on September 17. On September 19, Paul D. Miller, also known as DJ Spooky, participated in a Q&A, also held at the Bruno Walter Auditorium inside the New York Public Library. The event was moderated by David Hershkovits, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Paper magazine. Miller, a Washington native, engaged the audience with insight on music production and DJ’ing and shared his experience with film scoring. BMI is a proud sponsor of the conference, which takes place during IFP’s annual Independent Film Week and provides a variety of networking activities, hands-on workshops, keynotes with innovators and icons and in-depth creative master classes.
BMI also sponsors IFP’s year-long Independent Filmmaker Labs, which provide mentorship and offer highly immersive programs that give filmmakers the technical, creative and strategic tools necessary to launch their films and their careers.
