Broadcast Music Inc.’s Vice President, Film/TV Relations, Doreen Ringer-Ross, traveled to Brooklyn, New York, on June 11 to help orchestrate the music portions of the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) Time Warner Completion Labs, which explored the composer/director relationship as well as various aspects of music licensing. In addition to Ringer-Ross’s input, this year’s Labs featured insights from music supervisor Barry Cole and film composer Nathan Larson. The Lab is a unique year-long mentorship program supporting first-time feature directors during the critical process of completion, marketing, and distribution of their films. It focuses exclusively on low-budget features and provides filmmakers with the technical, creative, and strategic tools necessary to launch their films – and their careers.
