Broadcast Music, Inc. sponsored its fifth annual golf tournament at the Braemar Country Club in Tarzana, California, in support of Education Through Music – Los Angeles (ETM–LA), an independent 501(c)(3) organization that partners with inner-city schools with the mission to provide and promote music in disadvantaged schools. The event, held on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, brought together BMI executives and members of the music community in L.A., including music supervisors and record company executives. At 9 a.m., BMI Assistant Vice President, Film/TV Relations Ray Yee welcomed the participants, grouped into 16 teams that played a round of 18 holes at the bucolic golf course. The day-long event concluded with a barbecue at the club’s dining room, where Yee awarded the winning teams. ETM–LA’s Executive Director Victoria Lanier then spoke about the importance of music education and performed a duet with Celeste Acevedo, a student from Rio Vista Elementary School.
