The 2013 Tony Award nominations have BMI writers leading the list with three out of four nominations in the Best Original Score category and three nominations for Best Performances, highlighting the diverse talents of our affiliates in all areas of musical theatre. Nods go to Cyndi Lauper for Best Original Score for her work on “Kinky Boots,” which received the most nominations at 13; Tim Minchin for Best Original Score for his work on “Matilda,” which received 12 total nominations; and Amanda Green and Trey Anastasio who are both up for Best Original Score for their collaboration on “Hands on a Hard Body.” In addition, we’d like to congratulate Billy Porter, who is up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical (“Kinky Boots”), Tom Hanks, for his nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play (“Lucky Guy”) and Condola Rashad, who is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play (“The Trip to Bountiful”).

The awards ceremony will be telecast live on CBS Sunday, June, 9, 2013. For a complete list of 2013 Tony nominees, please visit LATimes.com.
