BMI Writers Have Another Historic Night at the ACMs
The Academy of Country Music again this year overwhelmingly celebrated BMI songwriters, who took home the majority of the awards given out last night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Multiple wins were had by Little Big Town, who took home Vocal Group of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year, which they won with Miranda Lambert, who was also named this year’s Female Vocalist of the Year, a position she has held since 2009. Other top wins include Jason Aldean, who was awarded Entertainer of the Year, and Thomas Rhett, who won Single of the Year for “Die A Happy Man,” along with producer Jesse Frasure.
In addition to blazing performances by Lambert, Littte Big Town, Aldean and Rhett, memorable performances by host Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Chris Young, Cam, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Brett Eldredge, Cole Swindell, Keith Urban and Tim McGraw also highlighted the star-studded evening, showcasing exactly why BMI affiliates rule the country airwaves. BMI songwriter Dolly Parton, also gave a stunning performance with Katy Perry* after being awarded the 2016 Tex Ritter Award.
