BMI Writers Nominated for Americana Honors & Awards
Several Broadcast Music, Inc. writers, including triple-nominees Sturgill Simpson, Shakey Graves and Lucinda Williams, were named as contenders for 2015 Americana Honors & Awards. Artist of the Year nominee Simpson is also in the running for Song of the Year for the track “Turtles All The Way Down” from the Album of the Year-nominated Metamodern Sounds in Country Music. Graves’ explosion onto the Americana scene has earned him a nod for Emerging Artist of the Year, as well as Album of the Year for And The War Came, which features Song of the Year seeker “Dearly Departed.” Americana powerhouse Lucinda Williams is up for Artist of the Year and her Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is among the contestants for Album of the Year and houses the Song of the Year hopeful “East Side of Town.” The Americana Music Association members will vote on the winners, who will be revealed during a ceremony and show at the historic Ryman Auditorium, September 16, during the Americana Music Festival in Nashville, TN.
