BMI’s Karen Buse Receives MBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2019
BMI is very proud to congratulate Managing Director, European Society Relations, Karen Buse, who was named a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to music on The Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2019. The prestigious List recognizes outstanding achievements of people across the United Kingdom. With this honor, Buse joins an elite group of industry notables who all have made significant contributions to music.
Based in BMI’s London office, Buse, who has also received several other accolades for her extensive experience, including Music Week’s Women In Music Roll Of Honour in 2017, said of her latest distinction, “This is beyond anything I’ve ever imagined. I am thrilled, stunned and humbled. It is really an honor to serve creators of music all over the world.”
In her role at BMI, Buse works closely with key European and global performing rights societies to help maximize BMI’s international revenue, improve business practices and identify growth opportunities, while also supporting BMI’s International team on global copyright management initiatives. Prior to September 2018, when she joined BMI, Buse was a 28-year veteran at PRS for Music, where she helped triple international revenue during her tenure.
