BMI’s Vice President of Writer Publisher Relations in Nashville, Jody Williams, was recently the recipient of the prestigious Darrell K Royal Texas Music Legend Award, named for the legendary University of Texas football coach known for his respect and appreciation for musicians. The award honors those who have provided recognition and support to songwriters, and the winner is inducted alongside four songwriters into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Association. Williams was recognized for his work with legendary TxHSA Hall of Famers Robert Earl Keen, Whitey Shafer and Larry Gatlin, as well as his work with rising stars Shaky Graves, Maren Morris, Gary Clark Jr. and more. He received the award at the February 20 ceremony at the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum, with special attendance and speech by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and performances by Raul Malo, Nicolle Galyon and Rodney Clawson. Congratulations, Jody, on a job well done!
