Gotye Wins Top Honors at APRA Awards

Gotye walked away with an armful of trophies at the 30th annual Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) Awards, held Monday, May 28 in Sydney. In addition to winning Songwriter of the Year, the singer/songwriter clinched Song of the Year and Most Played Australian Work honors for “Somebody That I Used to Know” featuring Kimbra, reflecting the hit’s runaway global success.

“Somebody That I Used to Know” reached the No. 1 slot in 11 countries, and Gotye became the first Australian artist since Savage Garden to claim the top spot on U.S. charts.
