How Can I Get Publishers Interested in My Music?

Posted in The Weekly on October 22, 2019

Just about every songwriter wants to know how to start working with a publisher. Here, Charlie Feldman, from BMI’s Creative team in NY, weighs in with his best advice, which is to put yourself out there!

“For a songwriter to generate interest from a publisher, I would recommend that if they have the ability to perform their songs effectively, that they put themselves out in the public to let the world hear their music. If their work is excellent the buzz will begin. If a writer cannot perform his/her songs, then they need to find someone who is great at demoing music. Then they must network, play their music whenever and wherever possible, and find advocates within the music community to help.”
