Indie Spotlight: MOONZz
Need proof that the music of electronic singer-songwriter MOONZz (aka Molly Williams) is sultry? Her single “Satisfy” was used in two Victoria’s Secret commercials for the Spring 2016 collection, leading to international success on iTunes’ Top Electronic Chart, peaking at number 8 in the U.S. Her new EP, Trust Cycles, came out last month, and the debut single “Wonder,” which she co-wrote with pop singer Brandyn Burnette, already has more than 85,000 streams on SoundCloud. She’s been influenced by a diverse group of artists that includes Eliot Smith, Air, Death Cab for Cutie, and Daedalus, and her rich, R&B-suited vocals offer a perfect counterpoint to her melodic interpretations and catchy trap beats. If MOONZz’s music, like her name, seems to have been plucked from a more ethereal space, it shouldn’t be surprising. She names the cosmos, or “a place where our insatiable curiosity prevails and the fear of not knowing inspires us to keep pushing forward” as a primary inspiration, and invites her fans along for the wild ride.
