Pairing warm, folksy harmonies with electronic rhythms and loops, New York’s Overcoats play music that feels simultaneously familiar and innovative. Born out of a project at Wesleyan University, this female duo of Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell sweetly weaves their voices together while singing bittersweet lyrics over sinewy grooves. But even when immersed in star-crossed love, rarely has heartbreak sounded so euphoric.
