Indie Spotlight: Whale Tooth

Posted in News on October 5, 2010

For a band whose name comes from an odd family heirloom, and whose sound can only be described as genuinely unabashed dance floor rock, Whale Tooth defy nostalgia yet simultaneously remind listeners of another era in music—a time when instantly familiar guitar riffs and boy-girl vocal hooks brought the kids out on the floor without hesitation. With the release of their 5 song EP behind them, a debut full-length in the works and a 23-date cross-Canada fall tour ahead (sharing the stage with Mother Mother, Tokyo Police Club and Lights), Whale Tooth have a lot in store as 2010 nears its end and 2011 edges ever closer.

Whale Tooth will play CMJ. BMI Showcase / Wednesday, Oct. 20 / Bar Matchless (557 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn, NY) / 10 p.m.
