Indie Spotlight: Vinyl Pinups
What started in Nashville as a casual college dorm room collaboration between Khara Lord and Brennen Aerts years ago has flourished into Los Angeles-based electronic pop duo Vinyl Pinups. The pair create infectious, optimistic songs evoking images of summer, beaches and better times. At times recalling songs like the Buggles’ classic “Video Killed the Radio Star” and at others dabbling in styles ranging from trip-hop to mid-century French music, they put a fresh sound to a popular genre. Their summery, irresistible debut single, “Gold Rays,” even recently caught the ear of Ryan Seacrest – who debuted the music video on his television program in the dead of winter.
