Julie Gold Receives BMI Award at 2009 Bistro Ceremony

The 24th annual Bistro Awards saluted the world’s finest cabaret performers Thursday, April 28 at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York. As part of the ceremony, BMI recognized Grammy-winning songwriter Julie Gold with the BMI Award for Outstanding Songwriter/Entertainer. Co-sponsored by BMI, the celebratory evening also featured performances from all Bistro award-winning artists.

The composer of smash “From A Distance,” famously recorded by Bette Midler, Gold has also written songs recorded by a broad camp of stars including Jewel, Cliff Richard, The African Children’s Choir, Judy Collins, The Byrds, Donna Summer, Patti LaBelle, Patti LuPone, Lea Salonga and Andrea Marcovicci.
