BMI Names Lisa Feldman Senior Director, Film/TV Relations; Promotes Philip Shrut to Associate Director, Film/TV Relations   BMI is proud to announce that Lisa Feldman has re-joined the company as Senior Director, Film/Television Relations, and that Philip Shrut has been promoted to Associate Director, Film/Television Relations. The announcements were made by Doreen Ringer Ross, Vice President, Film/Television Relations. Both will be based in BMI’s Los Angeles office.

Feldman will report to both Ringer Ross and Ray Yee, Executive Director, Film/Television Relations. Shrut will report to Ringer Ross.

In Feldman’s new position, she will be responsible for affiliating and working with BMI’s composers and songwriters in television and film; work with the broadcast and cable television music community; and establish and maintain relationships with television production companies, studio music executives, composer agents, music supervisors, libraries and music production houses.

In Shrut’s expanded role, he will continue to be a liaison with BMI’s new and existing composers and songwriters, as well as handle inquiries from members of the film and television industry, including music supervisors, music publishers, agents, managers, attorneys, and studio executives. He will continue his role as production coordinator at BMI’s annual Film & Television Awards gala as well as its many film and television focused workshops and events.

“Lisa and Phil have both worked side-by-side with me at BMI, and their caring personalities, knowledge of the company and the industry are obvious benefits to us,” said Ringer Ross.

“Lisa started her career at BMI over 10 years ago, leaving to pursue career opportunities in music licensing and placement. Her first-hand knowledge of the music clearance and licensing environment for film and the broadcast industry is a benefit to our composers. She is an entrenched player in the film and TV music community and her knowledge, passion and commitment to this community makes her a valuable member of the BMI team.

“Phil has been a huge grounding force for our composer and songwriter affiliates,” Ringer Ross added. “His knowledge and systematic approach to problem solving have made him the go-to person in our department for royalty questions. His work has expanded and deepened our footprint with our composers and songwriters, and his diligent work ethic makes this a very obvious and deserving promotion.”

Feldman was most recently Director of Film TV & Media for Stage Three Music; she has also held positions with Jill Meyers Music Consultants, MusicBlitz as well as with the Nestle Company in Mexico. She held the position of Associate Director, Film/TV Relations at BMI until 2000. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and also studied with the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana, Mexico City, Mexico and the University of Barcelona in Spain.

Shrut has been with BMI since 2005, serving as Executive Assistant to Ringer Ross and Yee. He coordinated the production for BMI’s Film & TV Awards, Conductors Workshop as well as various panels and seminars on film and TV music. Prior to BMI, he worked in television production in Los Angeles on various shows including “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race” and “Big Brother,” to name a few.
