PBS series Lomax: The Hound of Music is reimagining the way children learn through song, and the creative team behind the show recently received overwhelming affirmation that they’re on the right track: Corresponding album Lomax, the Hound of Music: Favorite Songs recently earned a prestigious 2010 Parents’ Choice Award.

Co-produced by BMI songwriter Christopher Cerf and starring the show’s cast, the compilation features musical performances by Larry Campbell, Levon Helm, Joe Franco, Byron Isaacs, Paul Jacobs, Howard Johnson, Catherine Russell, Teresa Williams, and members of the Mississippi Mass Choir. The album is also now in consideration for the 53rd annual Grammy Awards—quite the applause for a heart-warming educational program with a knack for combining child-like curiosity and adult-savvy artistry.
