Music Row Awards Salute BMI’s Country Family
BMI hosted the annual Music Row Awards Thursday, June 24 in Nashville, welcoming a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd there to cheer the community’s biggest success stories of the past year. BMI country trendsetters enjoyed win after win at the reader-voted awards: the Zac Brown Band claimed Breakthrough Artist of the Year, while “The House That Built Me,” co-written by perennial BMI hit-maker Tom Douglas and recorded by BMI critical favorite Miranda Lambert, garnered Song of the Year honors. Lambert’s savvy co-producer, BMI songwriter Mike Wrucke, also celebrated a win, as he shared Producer of the Year honors with Frank Liddell, and longtime favorite Justin Niebank earned Engineer of the Year.
The town’s ace pickers and players were also recognized for their top-flight studio work. BMI songwriters Shannon Forrest, Aubrey Haynie, Brent Mason, Charles Judge and Wes Hightower took home trophies as the year’s top drummer, steel, fiddler, guitarist, keyboardist and vocalist, respectively.
