Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and NSAI Crown BMI Writers With Multiple Awards
BMI congratulates its winners and honorees of the Nashville Songwriters Foundation, including 2015 NaSHOF inductees Rosanne Cash (“Seven Year Ache,” “My Baby Thinks He’s a Train”), Mark James (“Hooked on a Feeling,” “Always on My Mind”) and Even Stevens (“I Love a Rainy Night,” “Drivin’ My Life Away”), as well as NSAI’s Songwriter of the Year, Rodney Clawson, Song of the Year writers Lori McKenna and Liz Rose (for “Girl Crush”) and Songwriter/Artist of the Year, Taylor Swift. In addition, the Company gives kudos to the BMI writers of “The Songs I Wish I’d Written.”
Clawson, who was also BMI’s 2013 Country Songwriter of the Year, is responsible for hits such as “American Kids” (Kenny Chesney), “Bartender” (Lady Antebellum), “Burnin’ It Down” (Jason Aldean), “Dirt” (Florida Georgia Line), “Lettin’ The Night Roll” (Justin Moore) and “Sippin’ On Fire” (Florida Georgia Line). Taylor Swift, who has also been named BMI’s Country Songwriter of the Year in recent years, as well as winning many other BMI awards, was presented NSAI’s Songwriter/Artist of the Year award for a record-breaking seventh time in nine years.
“The Songs I Wish I’d Written” this year included 11 songs, instead of the usual 10 songs, due to a tie. Those songs, along with their BMI writers are: “Girl Crush” (Lori McKenna and Liz Rose), “A Guy Walks Into A Bar” (Melissa Peirce), “American Kids” (Rodney Clawson and Luke Laird), “Diamond Rings and Old Bar Stools” (Barry Dean and Luke Laird), “Dirt” (Rodney Clawson), “Girl In A Country Song” (Aaron Scherz), “I Don’t Dance” (Lee Brice and Dallas Davidson), “Neon Light” (Andrew Dorff), “Raise ‘Em Up” (Tom Douglas and Jeffrey Steele), “Shake It Off ” (Taylor Swift), and “She Don’t Love You” (Jennifer Wayne).
Great job, everyone!
