Oscar-Nominated BMI Composers Celebrated at SCL’s Annual Champagne Reception

Again this year, the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) held their Champagne Reception celebrating the 2017 Oscar nominees up for Best Original Score and Best Original Song. Held in association with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Music Branch Governors, the annual event took place Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Eveleigh in West Hollywood. Nominees included BMI songwriters and composers Justin Hurwitz, nominated for Best Original Score, and Best Original Songs (“Audition” The Fools Who Dream & “City Of Stars” - La La Land); Thomas Newman for Best Original Score (Passenger); Mica Levi for Best Original Score (Jackie); Dustin O’Halloran for Best Original Score (Lion); and Sting for Best Original Song (“The Empty Chair” - Jim: The James Foley Story.) The following evening on Sunday, February 26, Justin Hurwitz won both Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Original Song (“City Of Stars” – La La Land.) Congratulations to all!
