BMI helped celebrate the 10th year of Rising Through the Ranks by hosting a dinner recently (8/16) in Nashville for members of the RTTR Class of 2017. Rising Through the Ranks, which is a collaboration between BMI, the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) and the Mentoring & Inspiring Women in Radio organization (MIW), is a two-day management training program for female radio executives held each year at BMI’s office on Music Row. The sessions feature a number of presentations by some of the radio industry’s top female leaders and are designed to give the participants the tools to take the next step up in their career path.  This year, BMI awarded 25 scholarships to deserving women working in the radio industry in various markets across the country. The annual dinner featured a performance by The Sisterhood, a Sony Nashville duo comprised of BMI songwriter Ruby Stewart and Alyssa Bonagura, and was sponsored in part by Xperi and VCreative. Ruby is the daughter of pop icon Rod Stewart and Alyssa’s parents make up Baillee and the Boys, a country group that gained prominence in the 1980s. They are currently in the studio working on their first album, which they hope to release early next year.
