SCL Celebrates BMI Nominees At Annual Pre-Oscar Reception

The Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) hosted its annual Champagne Reception in association with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Music Branch Governors on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at a private residence in Beverly Hills. The gathering was held to honor the music nominees for this year’s Academy Awards, which included BMI songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who won the 2014 Oscar for Best Original Song for “Let It Go” from Frozen, songwriter Karen O nominated for “The Moon Song” from Her, and BMI composers John Williams, who was nominated for Best Original Score for The Book Thief, Thomas Newman, for Saving Mr. Banks, and Alexandre Desplat, who was nominated for his score for Philomena.
