SongHall Offers Spring and Winter Songwriting Workshops
As winter melts into spring, the Songwriters Hall of Fame will offer another round of must-attend workshops. The SongHall Writers Workshop “A” will span 8 sessions on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., while the one-day workshop entitled The Hit Factory: Making Your Music Make Money with Eric Beall, is slated for Saturday, March 13, 2010.
Guided by songwriter Peter Bliss (Barbara Streisand, N*SYNC, Jennifer Love Hewitt), Workshop A is designed to introduce aspiring songwriters into the intricacies of the industry, offering unique sessions with hit-makers and professionals in publishing, music licensing and A&R. Interested troubadours must submit two songs along with a complete application, and all participants will be hand-selected based on the original work they submit.
The one-day Hit Factory: Making Your Music Make Money workshop will feature insight from Eric Beall, author of books Making Music Make Money (An Insider’s Guide To Becoming Your Own Music Publisher) and The Billboard Guide To Writing and Producing Songs That Sell. This session is designed to improve participants’ understanding of the music industry’s business side, from targeting specific markets to analyzing what makes a hit a hit. Attendees are encouraged to bring their recordings on an iPod or a CD for the interactive segment of the day, during which the group will listen to and collaboratively critique the songs. The Hit Factory workshop is open to Songwriters Hall of Fame members.
