Here are a handful of the stories that got us talking over the past month:

  • What would the perfect music app do? Wired has some ideas.

  • American Songwriter sits down with Twilight music supervisor and former BMI staffer Alexandra Patsavas.

  • Kickstarter funded almost 12,000 projects last year – and it’s getting bigger. PaidContent.org breaks down the numbers.

  • From e-mailed co-writing to streaming showcases, artists are digitally connecting with one another and fans from farther and farther away. The New York Times looks at another trend: online music classes.

  • Artist Growth, an app designed to help artists, songwriters and musicians manage “gigs, finances, schedules and much more,” was formally introduced to the Nashville music community at an event on Tuesday, January 18. For those of us who couldn’t make it, this video serves as an informative substitute.
