Songwriter Equity Act Gains More Momentum

Posted in News on May 5, 2014

Congressman Adam B. Schiff (D-CA) (@RepAdamSchiff) has joined in support of the Songwriter Equity Act, which was first introduced in Congress in February by Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) (@RepDougCollins). Rep. Schiff is a founder and co-chair of the Congressional International Anti-Piracy Caucus, a bipartisan group of House and Senate lawmakers dedicated to working with America’s international trade partners to secure the enactment of strong copyright laws and the vigilant enforcement of that intellectual property.

If enacted, the SEA would make much needed updates to the copyright law to level the playing field for songwriters, composers, and publishers to earn a fair wage for their creative efforts. The bill now has eleven co-sponsors in addition to Rep. Collins. Read more about the SEA here.
