Posted in News on March 17, 2015

Congressman Theodore E. Deutch (D-FL-21) (@RepTedDeutch) has joined as a co-sponsor in support of H.R. 1283, the Songwriter Equity Act of 2015, which was reintroduced by original 2014 sponsor, Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA-9) (@RepDougCollins), and original co-sponsor Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY-8) (@RepJeffries) on March 4. Congressmen Deutch, Jeffries, and Collins all serve on the House Judiciary Committee, which oversees intellectual property issues. Congressman Deutch is also co-Chair of the Congressional Songwriters Caucus and has long been a strong supporter of intellectual property rights. His support for examining these issues is welcome news to BMI affiliates everywhere.
