Taylor Swift Leads BMI Grammy Nods

Posted in News on December 3, 2009

Taylor Swift leads the list of BMI nominees for the 2010 Grammy Awards, which were announced Wednesday, December 3 during televised CBS special staged at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. Swift, who turns 20 years old this month, garnered eight nods, including Album of the Year for Fearless, as well as Country Album, Song and Record of the Year. The best-selling artist of the year aside from Michael Jackson, Swift has dominated pop and country charts and is currently finishing work on her segue into big screen, Valentine’s Day.

The endearingly quirky Lady Gaga will compete with Swift for Album, Song and Record of the Year, and earned an impressive total of five nominations, underscoring the potency of her breakout year. With six nominations, The Black Eyed Peas will also vie for Album of the Year, as well as Record of the Year for international smash “I Gotta Feeling,” while the Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” was also tapped for Record of the Year. The prolific Kanye West also garnered six nominations, including Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “Amazing.”

  • Lady Gaga
  • The Black Eyed Peas
  • Kanye West

In the all-genre Best New Artist field, chart-topping road warriors the Zac Brown Band earned a mention, as did breakout rock group Silversun Pickups.

Covering 109 categories, the Grammys will be presented on January 31 in Los Angeles. For more information, please visit www.grammy.com.
