‘The Future is Female’ Proves to be a Powerful Celebration of Women Composers
The 2nd annual “The Future is Female” concert, presented by KCRW in association with Live Nation and The Alliance for Women Composers, last night featured the compelling music of twelve outstanding women composers as a tribute to maestras around the world. Performed triumphantly by the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, the showcase highlighted their wonderful contributions to film, TV and beyond in a truly celebratory and powerful event.
The talented twelve music creators and their works included Tangelene Bolton (“You and I” - world premiere), Cindy O’Connor (“Archangel” - world premiere), Tori Letzler (“The Gemini Suite” - world premiere), Heather McIntosh (“One Dollar” - world premiere), Perrine Virgile-Piekarski (“Life Was So Beautiful Then” - world premiere), Jessie Weiss (“Sailing at the Bottom of the Sea” - world premiere), Ronit Kirchman (“Welcome Suite” from The Sinner - world premiere) ASKA (“Photosynthesis” - world premiere), Mandy Hoffman (“Forest and the Trees” - world premiere), Germaine Franco (“Suite” from Tag - world premiere), Tamar-kali (“Unravelings” and “Ronsel in A Minor”), and Emily Rice (“The Wanderer Suite” - world premiere).
