Warner Music Group Presents the 27th Annual Music City Tennis Invitational with Martina McBride

Posted in News on April 6, 2000
RCA recording artist and BMI affiliate Martina McBride has signed on as celebrity host of Warner Music Group Presents the 27th Annual Music City Tennis Invitational (MCTI). The MCTI, the oldest music-supported tennis tournament in the nation, will be held Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 to benefit the Child Development Center (CDC) at Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville.

We are truly excited to have Martina join us in these efforts, commented Phran Galante, event chair. McBride, the reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, has been enjoying tremendous success with her fifth RCA album, Emotion, through its hits I Love You and Loves The Only House, and was recently named Nashville Tourism Ambassador. As the mother of two healthy daughters, the MCTI commitment is a natural fit, she explained.

The Child Development Center is a significant resource for families of children with a wide variety of disorders, such as learning difficulties, autism, mental retardation and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders. The community involvement in the annual tennis tournament brings much needed funds. Last years MCTI donation to the CDC totaled more than $40,000.

The Warner Music Group sponsorship marks a new level of participation from several labels, including the Nashville operations of Warner/Reprise, Giant, Asylum, Atlantic and Curb Record Labels and Warner/Chappell Music.

Other companies lending to the success of this event through generous sponsorships include BMI, EMI Publishing, RCA Label Group, SESAC, Sony/Nashville, and Williams, Crosslin, Sparks & Vaden, P.C.

The tournament will be held at the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Tennis Center at Vanderbilt University on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30. All tennis levels are welcome to participate and the MCTI will arrange partners for players, if needed.

In addition, there will be a Pro-Am Tournament held on Thursday, April 27 from 7-10 pm and a free Jr. Clinic held at the YMCA at Maryland Farms on Friday, April 28 from 4-6 pm.

The BMI Pre-Tournament Briefing and Kick-Off Party begins at 6:30 pm on Friday, April 28. Tournament play gets underway at 8 am on Saturday and 9 am on Sunday.
