Willie Mitchell received a Recording Academy Trustees Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the industry in a non-performing capacity, at the Grammy Nominees Reception, held at the Wilshire Ebell Theater on February 15.

In addition to his own works as a recording artist, Mitchell is known for his producing and arranging skills, and has been hailed as the man who created the “Hi sound” for the label of the same name in the ’70s, Mitchell is especially well known for his work with the legendary soul great Al Green.
