NEW YORK, November 3, 2005 – Virginia (Ginny) Hubbard Morris, President of Hubbard Broadcasting, St. Paul, MN, has been elected to a 4-year term on the BMI Board of Directors, it was announced today by Cecil L. Walker, Chairman of the BMI Board of Directors, following the performing right organization’s annual shareholders meeting in New York City.
Morris is a third generation broadcaster who began her career at the Hubbard flagship TV station KSTP-TV. Over the years she served as president and general manager of KSTP-AM and KSTP-FM, and president of the Hubbard Radio Network, a syndicator with more than 40 affiliates in the Midwest. A former chair of the NAB Radio Board, she currently serves on the board of the RAB and the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.
Re-elected to the BMI board were G. Neil Smith, President of GNS Media LLC, Liberty, SC and K. James Yager, CEO, Barrington Broadcasting Co., Hoffman Estates, IL. Their terms expire in 2009.

Hughes, Founder & Chairperson, Radio One, Inc., Lanham, MD; Philip A. Jones of Mission Hills, KS; Jerome L. Kersting, Executive VP & CFO, Clear Channel Radio, San Antonio, TX; Frank E. Melton, Mayor, City of Jackson, MS; John L. (Jack) Sander, President, Media Operations, Belo Corporation, Dallas, TX; and George V. Willoughby of Seattle, WA.
Three long-time members retired following the annual meeting. They are James G. Babb of Babb Communications, Charlotte NC, who served 19 years; Harold C. Crump, VP, Corporate Affairs, Hubbard Broadcasting Inc., who served for 21 years; and Donald A. Thurston, former President of Berkshire Broadcasting Co., Inc. of North Salem, MA, who served for 15 years.

With a repertoire of more than 6.5 million musical works from around the world, the non-profit-making corporation collects license fees from businesses that use music, which it then distributes as royalties to the musical creators and copyright owners it represents.
